U13s win final match against Eastbourne, but, it was a close one! Batting first Eastbourne scored a decent 163-4. A wicket each for Zak Hearsay & Curtis Cooper plus two run outs. In reply Seaford batted very positively, in doing so they took a few too many chances resulting in two run outs. Batting stars Ben Brown (15) & Ben Lewis (19) failing to retire. With no retired batsman and six wickets down it was left to skipper Chris Pope (12no) and Zak Hearsay to hold their nerves and see Seaford home off the last ball of the match. The U13s latest match against Hellingly saw another exciting finish with Seaford just missing out. Batting first Seaford scored a substantial 178-1 in their 12 overs with Ben Brown (23), Ben Lewis (21), Curtis Cooper (22) & Bradley Eisnor (22) all retired plus a not out innings of 22 from Chris Pope. However, all the good work with the bat was undone by bowling too many extras allowing Hellingly to chase down the total scoring the winning two runs off the last ball. Zak Hearsay bowled well to claim two wickets with a wicket each for Alfie Cleghorn & Bradley Eisnor, who also tmanaged a run out with a direct hit throw. The U13s second match saw them meet a very strong St Andrews team. Winning the toss St Andrews were asked to bat first. From their 12 overs they scored a very challenging 178 for 1. In reply Seaford set about the run chase in a positive fashion with Ben Lewis retiring on 24. Ben Brown, Curtis Cooper, Chris Pope, Maxwell Wright & Callum Wright all managed double figure scores and combined with some wayward St Andrews bowling Seaford needed 19 off the last over to win. Despite the brave effort Seaford ended 6 runs short. St Bedes batted first and were restricted to 141 for 3 in 12 overs. Curtis Copper taking one wicket plus two direct hit run outs from Chris Pope & Zak Hearsay. In reply the Seaford run chase revolved around good knocks from Curtis Cooper (20 retired) & Ben Lewis (21 retired). Bradley Eisnor (16), Callum Wright (8) & Zak Hearsay, who held his nerve to hit the winning run off the last ball, ensured that Seaford got off to the best possible start in the league.
